The Boys` Brigade

The Boys` Brigade is a Christian youth organisation that is committed to providing a safe and secure environment in which boys and young men can develop socially and emotionally towards mature adulthood. The safety of the boys is paramount.

We are a uniformed organisation, and meet at Ainsdale Methodist Church every Thursday evening. There are 4 sections within our Company. Anchor Boys (5 – 8 years), Junior Section (8 – 11 years), the Company Section (11 – 14 years) and the Senior Section (15 – 18 years).

The Parade Night contains mainly of fun packed activities for the boys, whilst they work towards our badge system. The Boys` Brigade is a good place for boys to make new friends, have fun, stay safe and develop into mature manhood.

The Boys` Brigade was founded in Glasgow by Sir William Alexander Smith on 4th October 1883. It was the first uniformed organisation for boys. We are known as The 9th Southport Company, like all other BB Companies, we are attached to a church, and our Company is part of The Southport and District Battalion, which in turn is part of The North West District. Their are BB Companies all over the country and in other parts of the world also.

The object of the Boys` Brigade is the advancement of christs kingdom amongst boys and the promotion of habits of obediance, reverence, discipline, self respect and all that tends towards a true christian manliness.

The Boys` Brigade Motto is : ”Sure and Steadfast”.

The Motto is taken from the Bible, the book of Hebrews, Chapter 6, Verse 19.
